Congress passed the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) health benefit provisions in 1986. Upon involuntary termination, individuals are eligible to continue to receive healthcare coverage under the plan they had while employed at their cost. Employers with 20 or more employees are usually required to offer COBRA coverage and to notify their employees of the availability of such coverage. (read full article) →
